The education of chiropractors at Macquarie University, Sydney, has received a clear message that continued university affiliation demands increased research activity.

It is of utmost importance to the education as well as to the entire profession’s development and reputation that chiropractors can continue to be educated in a university setting, which naturally has raised the motivation for initializing research of high quality considerably.

At the recent ECU Convention in Barcelona, Spain, the two chiropractors Henrik Hein Lauridsen, DC, MSc, PhD and Lise Hestbæk, DC, PhD received the 2nd prize for their presentation: ’Development of the Young Spine Questionnaire’.

The prize was given for the development of a questionnaire to be used among children and adolescents. The questionnaire is specifically designed to examine the prevalence of back and neck pain in this population. It includes questions related to pain severity, school absence due to the pain and possible treatment received for the pain.

Included in the prize is an amount of €1.000.

As of May 1st. chiropractor, PhD, Tue Secher Jensen has joined NIKKB as part of our research team.

Tue Secher Jensen: "I have been doing research in Medical Imgaing since I graduated from University of Southern Denmark in 2002. As part of the Research Team and Imaging Unit at NIKKB, I work in the intersect between imaging and research. One of the projects that I will undertake is the evaluation    
of the new referral guidelines for musculoskeletal imaging that will be published in June 2013".

Chiropractor Ellen Aartun has won the main prize at the 21st Annual Meeting of the Norwegian Spine Research Society - the Back and Neck Prize.


The meeting was held in Oslo Friday and Saturday April 19th.-20th.

Ellen presented partial results from her PhD project, a cross-sectional and two-year longitudinal analysis of the prevalence, incidence and course of back and neck pain in children aged 11-13.
